It's about that time again!  What's on the list this year?

Cucumbers again, of course!

Tomatoes and corn.  I really hope the corn grows, never tried growing it before.

And peppers!  Green peppers and also banana peppers!

My dad made this box for the peppers because we ran out of room in our tiny garden.  I started too many plants, oopsy! :p  He's super crafty too!

(Are they grown yet?)

Coffee can't wait to chow down!  Look at him lickin' his chops while I take pics of the veggies!

See ya later!

P.s.  Don't forget about the giveaway!!!

Work in progress:

I am currently working on knitting a scarf, crocheting a hat, that blue rag bag needs a lining (and I have to start on a grey one for a special order) and that dark pink bag needs a closure.  I just made that pink one last night on my new sewing machine!  I just got it yesterday. :)

It's so nice to sew on a machine that doesn't make me wanna throw it across the room!

My beginner crochet wrap pattern

Here is my pattern for the wrap I made for my mom, blogged here.  Hopefully you can follow this, I never wrote a crochet pattern before but basically this is what I did:

Materials used:  Size K crochet hook
4 balls of Lion Brand Jiffy yarn in Rose Spray (pink)
2 balls of Lion Brand Jiffy yarn in white
4 balls of  Caron Dazzleaire  in Summer rose (dark pink)

Make a chain of 70 sts
1st row single crochet
2nd row double crochet
3rd row triple crochet
change color

Now every row after that will be done in triple crochet changing yarn colors every three rows.  In this wrap I have 26 stripes, that's 13 pink and 13 dark pink.

When you get to the 26th stripe, in pink, the last three rows are in reverse of the first three
triple crochet
double crochet
single crochet

Now just on the two longer sides, along the stripes I did a slip stich then went back and added the scallops.
For the scalloped edges I did three double crochet into the first chain then a slip stitch into the next two chain stitches and repeat all the way down.

Then I just added fringe to both ends.

I hope this made sense, please leave any questions you might have in the comment box and I will help best I can. :)

Happy crocheting!

Nintendo controller headband

Just a quick crafty post today to show off my Nintendo controller headband that I created using felt!

I added a piece to the back where I can just slide it onto one of my headbands.

Also, I will be posting the crochet wrap pattern I mentioned in the last post, tomorrow! :)

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

This is the shawl I made for my mom, along with a couple other goodies.  She asked me a while ago to make her one and I've been working on it ever since.  I started over several times, changing colors, changing yarns and then finally deciding to crochet it instead of knit!

This is only the second thing I have completed in crochet.  I made a couple of pins before but that was it.  Now I know what you're thinking "Hey, this is the Nuckin' Futs Knitters blog, not the Nuckin' Futs Crocheter blog!" But I assure you my first love is still knitting, however I do enjoy branching out and trying different crafts.  Crocheting isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

The first time I tried to learn to crochet I just didn't get it.  I was teaching myself and all of the books and YouTube video's I tried weren't helping.  So I tossed my crochet hook aside and said "The hell with that!"  That was about six years ago.

When I gave it another try last year it  finally made sense to me. :)  This wrap is just a basic rectangle shape and I added scalloped edges to the sides and fringe on the ends.  I haven't seen my mom yet today to give it to her but I really hope she likes it!  I will be attempting to write out a pattern for it (all my pattern notes look  like crazy scribble) so check back if you would  like to give this wrap a try.

See ya later!
